HALLAM LAND MANAGEMENT REPORT RECORD FIGURES FOR 2008 FINANCIAL YEAR
1 April 2009
Few companies involved in the housing sector were able to produce improved results in 2008 but Hallam Land Management (HLM), the Henry Boot strategic land subsidiary, produced an exceptional performance by increasing turnover by 108% to 74.8 million pounds and profit by 56% to 35.5 million pounds.
HLM concluded the sale of four major housing sites in the year at Milton Keynes, Bowburn (nr Durham), Syston (Leicester) and Melksham in Wiltshire, and these together with smaller transactions on housing and commercial sites produced the outstanding results.

NEW PROPOSALS FOR HOMES IN MONMOUTH OFFER SOLUTIONS TO PLANNING PROBLEMS
25 February 2009
Hallam Land Management Limited, the strategic land subsidiary of Henry Boot PLC, has submitted an outline planning application for up to 245 dwellings, with a mix of house types and sizes, including affordable housing. The new development site west of Rockfield Road and north of Rockfield Road estate covers 7.37 hectares, of which 6.10 hectares would be developed.
This new planning application is intended to deliver housing for Monmouth and to sort out local flooding problems in the Over Monnow area, and has been submitted to Monmouthshire County Council. The proposals cover sites included in two earlier planning applications. The new application has been brought forward as an alternative to both earlier applications and as a solution to concerns raised by Monmouth Town Council, the County Council and nearby residents.
"We looked hard at the two key issues affecting our earlier application and that of the neighbouring site at Croft-y-Bwla - access and drainage," said Nick Duckworth, Director of Hallam Land Management. "One combined site has the capacity to deliver an all-round better development."
"Separate applications would mean two access roads. Of great concern to local residents, access to some 100 houses would be through the recent residential development, opening up St Vincents Drive. This new application avoids that problem by providing one access road directly off Rockfield Road."
"And the long-standing problem of local flooding, which affected some residents of Rockfield Road estate last September, would be alleviated by re-directing the flood flow and providing improved sustainable drainage measures within the new larger development site. We also have enough land to set aside for green corridors, wildlife and footpaths."
