Working with communities
We actively work with a range of stakeholders through the planning promotion process to design developments that meet the specific needs of each local community.
In the past five years, these developments have also delivered:
8
new primary schools, providing a school place for over 2,700 children.
£95m
of contributions towards off-site education, including primary, secondary, and special educational needs.
£5.7m
towards improved healthcare facilities such as doctors’ surgeries and health centres.
697
acres of publicly accessible open space, formal play areas, and 97 acres of formal sports pitches.
£40m
towards highways improvements, bus contributions, and new foot/cycle paths to enable sustainable modes of travel.
£3.2m
towards improved leisure facilities such as sports halls.
Our developments actively contribute to reducing the UK’s housing shortfall and support economic growth. Our core aim is to leave a lasting and positive legacy that encompasses a wide range of community benefits. These include affordable housing, education and healthcare facilities, ecological investment and biodiversity enhancement, flood defences, open spaces, highways and sustainable transport infrastructure, sports pitches, play areas and community buildings.
Over the last five years, we have secured planning consent for more than 15,000 new homes, including 4,300 affordable homes.
Through early engagement with stakeholders, our approach has resulted in the allocation of a number of our sites within neighbourhood plans, examples include Buckingham and Moulton. These developments have delivered significant benefits such as new allotments, cemetery space, school car parking, sports pitches alongside market and affordable homes.
