Community benefits of development
Hallam Land Management is committed to working with key stakeholders throughout the entire promotion process, to create and deliver positive and measurable benefits to both local communities and the environment.
There is a significant and continuous demand for new homes in the UK, with demand outstripping supply. This leads to house prices simply becoming unaffordable for many people, who are effectively then locked out of the housing market. To overcome this barrier the government has committed to delivering 300,000 new homes – each year – by the mid 2020’s.
Our residential projects actively contribute to reducing the UK’s housing shortfall. As we also create and deliver employment opportunities, the promotion of our sites achieves significantly more than simply new homes and economic gains. Our core aim is to leave a lasting and positive legacy that encompasses a wide range of community benefits.
These benefits include education and healthcare facilities, ecological investment and biodiversity enhancement, flood defences, open spaces, highways, and sustainable transport infrastructure, sports pitches, play areas and community buildings.
In the past five years alone, Hallam Land has secured planning consent for more than 15,000 new homes, including a total of 4,300 affordable homes.
Over the past five years, these developments have also delivered:

Hallam Land achieved a very valuable planning consent for 2,400 homes, commercial uses and community facilities including a school and health care provision. This approach has resulted in the allocation of a considerable number of our sites within both Local and Neighbourhood Plans. Examples include Buckingham and Moulton, where our sites have been allocated for development in Neighbourhood Plans. These developments have gone on to deliver significant benefits such as new allotments, cemetery space, school car parking, sports pitches, as well as new-to-market and affordable homes.
