Acting on behalf of Winchester College, Hallam successfully gained planning permission for at Alton for 180 units.

This scheme occupies a steeply sloping site to the west of Alton. The development needed to positively respond to this gradient, alongside the provision of open space to the south preserving the source of the River Wey and the setting of Will Hall Farm (Grade II listed).

Hallam developed a strong working relationship with Hampshire Highways and statutory bodies including Southern Water to unlock the potential of this site.

Hallam worked in close partnership with Alton Town Council through a series of design workshops to deliver a legacy scheme on behalf of the landowners, Winchester College. As part of this process, Design Codes were submitted to ensure the design of the development was of high-quality and in-keeping with the character of Alton.

Following positive discussions with Alton Town Council and the Local Planning Authority, Hallam are now actively promoting a second phase of the development for 225 units which has been in every iteration of the Emerging Local Plan to date. Hallam anticipate that an application will be submitted before the end of 2024
