Beamhill Road is Sustainable Urban Extension and is a key development site for East Staffordshire. An outline planning application was submitted in 2013 for 950 dwellings, a primary school, retail, health and community facilities as well as extensive open space. The site was allocated in 2015 following successful promotion through the Local Plan.
To create a suitable access into the site, Hallam acquired several properties along Beamhill Road and following the granting of outline planning permission Hallam constructed the access to unlock the site to implement the consent. The serviced site was subsequently sold to two national housebuilders.
Two applications were required alongside a Judicial Review to secure consent on this scheme. A then complex agreement with landowners and the County Council required changes to the s.106 to secure the school.
