The proposals for this site were highly contentious being the first site to breach the A2 in Faversham; which historically had been successfully used as the barrier to development for many years.
Hallam submitted an outline planning application for 310 plots, 5 hectares employment land, a 60-bed care home, 100 bed hotel, and retail ahead of the Local Plan being adopted. The application was approved at Planning Committee and subsequently allocated for mixed-use development in the Swale Local Plan following the submission of a planning application. It was sold to Barratt Homes and the commercial to Henry Davidsons Developments, who later contracted the care home to LNT, retail to Aldi, and the hotel to Premier Inn.
The employment land remained was retained as the market did not support a sale at that time. Hallam are now preparing an application to amend the consent for the employment land to a mixed retail and residential development.
