This scheme is the first and only site identified in the Region Plan – going back to 2008 – to start on site to date.

Hallam Land, in partnership with Barratt David Wilson and Davidsons, secured planning consent for a large-scale, mixed-use urban extension of Leicester including 4,250 plots and consent for two motorway bridges. Within 12 months of Hallam Land securing outline planning permission, work commenced on the enabling infrastructure, including the construction of the first motorway bridge over the M1 which opened in 2019, providing a new road that now links the A563 and the A47.

To date, sales have been completed on a total of 1,194 building plots and 16 acres of Employment to developers including Redrow, Barratt Homes, Davidsons Group and Goodman Logistics.

This site won the 2020 RTPI National Award for Excellence in Planning to Deliver Homes – on Larger Schemes.

“The judges admired the way in which they were able to engage with a range of stakeholders, including Highways England, and persuaded them to invest in a 20-year plan for the community.”
