New Lubbesthorpe is a scheme for 4,250 new dwellings, a mixed-use district centre, two local centres, two primary schools, a secondary school, as well as 21ha of employment land. The scheme included consent for two new motorway bridges over the M1 and the M69. Homes England funding was secured to assist in the delivery of this scheme.
This is a long running placemaking scheme that was first identified in the emerging Local Plan in 2008.
New Lubbesthorpe is currently under construction, with three developers on site.
The scheme has been designed to be a sustainable new community, that creates an attractive new living and working environment. It has now won the RTPI National Award for Excellence in Planning to Deliver Homes (2020).
There have been 800 completions on site to date, 1600 units have been sold and with 2500 in total with detail consent.
